Anophthalmic socket syndrome: Management and cosmetic outcome

To describe the management strategy and evaluate outcome of Anophthalmic socket syndrome. This retrospective case study includes 40 patients with anophthalmic syndrome who attended orbit ocular oncology department Ispahani Islamia Eye Hospital from January 1, 2018, to June 31, 2021 were included in this study. All information regarding age, gender, initial pathology, type surgery, implant, degree contraction, procedure reconstruction, complication recorded analyzed correctly. 17 males (42.5%) 23 females (57.5%) a mean age 24.47 years Trauma (30%) Tumour (25%) main reasons for eye removal. Enucleation performed 24 (60%) cases was most common surgery. The primary implant not done 20 (50%) cases. Mild contraction (grade 1) 10 Moderate 2 3) 25(62.5%) severe 4) 5(12.5%) recorded. Only fornix forming suture cases, mucous membrane graft (MMG) 27 (67.5%) dermis fat 3 (7.5%) followed up routinely six months. good 16 (40%) acceptable (50%), poor 4 (10%) A infection (5%) atrophy (5%). : remains challenging entity oculoplastic surgeon. Multiple factors help determine overall prognosis reconstruction. goal is provide that can maintain cosmetically prosthesis. Timely detection, proper correction underlying pathology high level care directly correlate expected surgical outcomes.
